The 2010 CTPC Cup All China Interpreting Contest (ACIC), jointly hosted by Translators Association of China (TAC) and Higher Education Press (HEP), and sponsored by the China Translation and Publishing Corporation (CTPC), has been launched in China in May 2010. It targets at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students throughout the nation, including Hong Kong and Macao. The ACIC receives generous support from the International Federation of Translators (FIT) and the International Permanent Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters (CIUTI).
This year’s ACIC covers consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for the English, Japanese and French languages. The contest of English consecutive interpretation will be on a selection basis with four phases, namely, preliminary, second round, regional final, and national final. Other contests will be invitational. The final for the invitational contests of Japanese and French will be held on October 16th at Beijing International Studies University. The English final contest will be held on October 24th at Sichuan University, in the South-west Province of Sichuan.
At present, about 30 organizers for the second round of contests and all the organizers for regional final contests have been confirmed. Preliminary contests have commenced in participating universities and colleges. The final tests will be broadcast live on http://www.cflo.com.cn/ and http://www.univs.cn/.
